The Journey In My Career

Elk Grove Tribune

Executive Editor, News & Events Editor, Staff Writer – October 2018 to Present

I currently serve as the Executive Editor. A lot of time is dedicated in informing the community about news which is something I am very passionate about. I lead over a dozen writers and editors to produce content that the community needs.

Ventura County Community College District

Senior Analyst – October 2016 to Present

This is my primary position at the moment and is very interesting as it ties into my passion of IT and helping people. Through this position, I provide automation to the colleges to enable them to serve the students, faculty, and staff.

Emerging Voices in Education Academic Journal

Marketing Chair, Budgeting Chair – April 2018 to Present

I have been part of EVIE for quite some time and served as Budget Chair previously. My time with EVIE mainly dealt with being part of the evaluation team for our academic journal.

Trifecta Photography

Owner, Photographer – April 2016 to October 2019

Being a small business owner was such a great experience. From building the brand to providing products and services to customers was definitely something I am proud of. Weddings and photo sessions took a lot of time out my weekends so I moved away from a Photographer business.

County of Sacramento, Department of Technology

Senior IT Analyst – Application Development/Business intelligence – February 2014 to October 2016

Leading teams on so many projects is such a memorable time. All the projects and people I managed definitely made it great. I loved building people to become a better version of themselves and this role allowed me to do so.

County of Sacramento, Department of Human Assistance

IT Analyst – August 2006 to February 2014

I learned so much about Technology through this position. I loved creating software and automation to provide services for the community. I thoroughly enjoyed this position; nonetheless, I had to move on 🙂

Vehicle Automation Controls

Design Engineer – July 2004 to August 2006

My first career position at a startup and it was pretty intense. Low budget with high demand. Founders were not organized created even a bigger chaotic work environment. Even with all that, I enjoyed creating all the hardware and software for cars and trucks. Great projects for sure.

Educational Journey

Drexel University

Doctor of Education (EdD), 2014 – 2018
Leadership and Management

I thought about obtaining a doctorates so here I am. Learning about leadership was something I enjoyed. The whole journey through this program definitely made me grow. Writing a dissertation was a grind but all worth it at the end.

Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University

Master of Business Administration (MBA), 2012 – 2012
Management Information Systems

I got bored and so I went to more schooling. Obtaining an MBA really didn’t help with being a small business owner. In fact, a MBA from my experience helped with executive management functions.

DeVry University, Fremont

Bachelor of Science (BS), 2001 – 2004
Computer Engineering
Summa Cum Laude

I met so much great people at school and learned so much. Even with the bad reputation of DeVry, this experience was worthwhile and I learned so much.
